Description

This pheromonotropic neuropeptide has originally been isolated from head extracts of the armyworm larvae, Pseudaletia separata. The C-terminal pentapeptide of PssPT, which is essential for the biological activity, is identical in sequence with the active core of leucopyrokinin, an insect myotropic neuropeptide. Based on the physiological function of PssPT in lepidopteran insects, the name Pseudaletia MRCH (melanization and reddish coloration hormone) has been proposed.
